Apple TV (marketed stylized as tv) is a digital media player and a microconsole developed and sold by Apple Inc. It is a small network appliance and entertainment device that can receive digital data from a number of sources and stream it to a capable TV for playing on the TV screen.

TURN ON THE TV! (It may be off...) Mirror your display or extend your desktop: You can use AirPlay to mirror or extend everything on your Mac display. The display must be connected and awake. Click the AirPlay icon
in the menu bar, then choose your Apple TV under "Connect To AirPlay Display.”

The icon turns BLUE when your Mac is using an AirPlay display.
From the same AirPlay menu, choose MIRROR BUILT IN DISPLAY or one of the mirroring options under "Use AirPlay Display To."
To stop using your Apple TV as an AirPlay display, choose Disconnect AirPlay Display from the AirPlay menu. Or just press the Menu button on the Apple TV remote.

WHY DOES THE PICTURE LOOK BAD?
1. If your desktop doesn't look good on your HDTV, your
HDTV might be applying picture-quality enhancements that aren't best for computer images. WE’VE DONE OUR BEST TO SET THE SETTINGS, BUT FYI. 2. If you're mirroring your display and the image doesn't
fit your HDTV screen, you can adjust the desktop size for the best picture. Click the AirPlay icon, then choose an option under "Match Desktop Size To." If you match desktop size to your Apple TV, the image fills the HDTV screen but might not look as good on your Mac display.

MY AIRPLAY HAS DICONNECTED AND/OR MY VIDEO WON’T PLAY...
1. If AirPlay disconnects by itself, your wireless network
might be too busy or have too much wireless interference to maintain the AirPlay connection.
