You can open the applications menu on the bottom left of your Chromebook screen.

You can open the Chat app from your applications menu.

Make sure to click Allow to get notified when you get a message

To message someone click on the + on the bottom right

You will need to type in the entire email of the teacher or staff member you would like to message on Chat, press the enter/return key then type your message and send.
