How to change Zoom screen name
**** To help create a safer learning environment, please make sure you are using your First and Last Name as your Screen Name. Teachers will be using this to make sure only our students are allowed into the class. ****
Anywhere you see “Screen Name”, the participant should input their full name. (e.g. Clark Kent)
Using a Chromebook
When you open the Zoom application from your Chromebook you will see the below screen, If needed, here is where you will type in the Meeting ID and under it, the Screen Name.
Screen Name: (the student’s First and Last Name)
You can also click on Sign in
Sign in with Google and use your Google Classroom login to access Zoom.
Just make sure your Zoom Profile has your correct First and Last name
Using an iPad app
When using an iPad you can either click on Join a Meeting or Sign in
If you click on Join a Meeting, you will be ask for the Meeting ID and your Screen Name
Screen Name: Student’s First and Last Name
If you click on Sign In you will see the option to sign in with Google, in this case you will use the Google Classroom information to login. This will automatically populate the students name.
Just click on the “Google” link and choose your DREAM google account.
Using a Zoom application/program on the computer
You will have the option to Join a Meeting or Sign In

If you click Join Meeting you will need to Enter your meeting ID and then Enter your Name below it then click on Join.
If you click on Sign in you can click on Sign in with Google then use your Google Classroom information to login. This will auto-populate your name based on your DREAM account.
Using a computer browser to join zoom.us
- First click on Sign in on the top right
- In the Sign in screen click on “Sign in with Google” and use your DREAM account (“DREAM Username”@students.wearedream.org) as your account
If you have a Meeting ID, go back to zoom.us and click on Join a Meeting, or if you have a link provided by your teacher then click on it and move to the next step.
This Zoom meeting notification will show up. Click Cancel then click where it says “click here” to launch the meeting and the Cancel one more time.
Now you will see the below message - “If you cannot download or run the application, join from your browser” and click on “join from your browser”.
Now you will see the options to add the Meeting Password (if you use a meeting ID) and Your Name then click on Join.
Signing out of Zoom Application if needed.
In the Zoom Chromebook app you will click Logout next to your name on top left.
In Zoom Windows/Mac desktop application on the top right click on the user initials and then click Sign Out
Signing out in an iPad application.
Click on Settings and then on the profile/email
Scroll down and you click Sign Out
